  • What systems quilfy?

Xcel Energy offers rebates for installing cold climate heat pumps (ccASHP) in Colorado. To qualify, the equipment must meet specific efficiency and performance standards

    • Efficiency Ratings: The heat pump should have a minimum of 15.2 SEER2 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio), 10 EER2 (Energy Efficiency Ratio), and a COP (Coefficient of Performance) of at least 1.75 at 5°F.
    • Heating Capacity: At 5°F, the heat pump must maintain at least 70% of its heating capacity compared to its performance at 47°F
    • Approved Listings: The unit should be listed on the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) database, which verifies its performance in cold climates.

Additionally, to be eligible for the rebate:

    • Service Requirements: You must be an Xcel Energy customer using either their electric service with air conditioning or air-source heat pump, or their natural gas service for home heating.
    • Property Type: The program is available for single-family homes, duplexes, and four-plexes.
    • Installation: The heat pump must be installed by a contractor participating in Xcel Energy’s program to ensure proper installation and compliance with rebate requirements.

By meeting these criteria, you can benefit from Xcel Energy’s rebates for cold climate heat pumps, which are designed to promote energy efficiency and reduce heating costs in colder regions.

  • Do Heat-pumps work in Colorado’s extreme cold weather?

Heat pumps are an effective and energy-efficient heating solution, even in Colorado’s coldest climates. Modern cold-climate air-source heat pumps (ccASHPs) are specifically designed to perform well in freezing temperatures, efficiently extracting heat from the outdoor air even when temperatures drop below 0°F. These advanced systems use enhanced compressors and refrigerants that allow them to maintain 70% or more of their heating capacity at 5°F, ensuring reliable warmth throughout the winter. Many models are listed on the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) cold-climate database, verifying their ability to operate in extreme cold. Additionally, when paired with a backup heat source—such as electric resistance heating or a gas furnace—heat pumps provide a seamless, efficient heating solution for Colorado homes, reducing energy costs and reliance on fossil fuels

  • What is a heat-pump, and how does it work

A heat pump is an energy-efficient system that transfers heat rather than generating it, making it an effective solution for both heating and cooling. In cold weather, the heat pump extracts heat from the outdoor air—even in freezing temperatures—and transfers it indoors using a refrigerant cycle. The refrigerant absorbs heat as it evaporates in the outdoor unit, then compresses to increase its temperature before releasing the heat inside the home. In warm weather, the process reverses, with the heat pump acting like an air conditioner by removing heat from indoors and expelling it outside. This cycle allows heat pumps to provide year-round comfort while consuming significantly less energy than traditional heating and cooling systems.

Mini-Split-Cassette

Ceiling cassettes

The cassettes are used for new Construction and remodeling.

They require running the Line-sets, and drain in the ceiling to the outdoor unit.

They require a good amount of space in-between the joists.

Making them more expensive, to install, repair and clean.

Floor-wall-Mount

The Floor wall mount is a great option in locations, that don’t have flat or tall enough fall to install the cassettes & wall mounted units.

Client testimonials

I Had Joseph install a multi-zone Mini-split system in my home in Denver, my home was built in 1912 with brick, the team took care to make precision holes in the brick to keep it from any damage, we are very satisfied with our new AC system.

Kenneth West

My husband and I have been talking about for years on getting some type of air conditioning system and getting rid of the old swamp cooler we have, we called and after a 30 min conversation with Joe, we had booked a free estimate for a new system, after going over all the options available to us and cost, we decided to install ductless mini split in each of the rooms to give us control of the temperatures in each room, satisfied is not the best way we can express how happy we are with the decision we made and the level of comfort we have now compared to before, we definitely recommend BB-Cond!

Rachel Wilson

After looking online for an hvac contractor we came across bb cond, we where looking to replace the central AC system in out 3400 square foot home, Joseph explained all the options and cost, we went with a 20Seer Daikin system, and are very satisfied withe the cost and work that was done.
